Blues Brews and BBQS raceday has been and gone for another year and Grafton trainers did not let the side down with a couple of winners for the locals recorded on the day.
Sam McGuren was first to the winners room when stable newcomer Twosret scored a first up win in the Maiden 1200m.
Purchased from the Mick Price yard back in September the lightly raced Canadian bred mare had one run for the new stable before Sam made the call and sent her for a well earned break with what turned out to be a great result.
This time back Twosret trialled brilliantly at Coffs Harbour prior to the first up run with plenty thinking she was a winning hope.
The other Grafton winner for the day was in the final event of the card with Commanding Reign able to record its second win for the season for the Dan Want yard.
Ridden by stable rider Jodi Worley Commanding Reign showed plenty of dash to race outside the leader but was left in front and a sitting shot for the chasers when the early leader dropped off before the home turn.
In the end Commanding Reign showed heaps of courage to maintain his advantage all the way to the post.
