Most local trainers were celebrating Australia Day by contemplating the return to racing at Grafton today but not Jason Reilly who decided to head over the border in search of win when there was no suitable race at home.
His first runner El Teniente failed to handle the soft track conditions and was never in the race finishing a distance last .
It did not take long for that disappointment to fade when just two races later and it was time to celebrate when THAT’S MADNESS was given the run of the race by Alan Chau to score a good first up victory in the 1100m F&M BM 55.
Perfectly drawn in barrier one Chau was happy to follow the pace in a quickly run race before shifting into clear on the point of the home turn to reach the lead halfway down the short straight and win with a little in reserve.
It was the first win for THAT’S MADNESS since joining the Reilly yard from Matthew Dunn just over a year ago.
