With the CRJC preparing for its final race meeting of 2020 on Sunday it is the right time to report on racing at the last Grafton meeting.
Scott Henley prepared his first winner since returning to the training caper when Boyles ridden by Anthony Allen scored an impressive victory in the Class 3 1410m.
Boyles went forward shortly after the start to sit in a close second in a slowly run race before Allen went for home on straightening and from there to the winning post there was no reason for concern with Boyles holding a good advantage in the end winning by almost two lengths.
It had been an exasperating return to training for Henley who had finished second with his only other three runners in recent weeks.
Cathy Chapman has been having a great season and it continued when La Cronica led throughout to score in the Maiden 1410m.
Ridden by Ben Looker the daughter of Host had been placed at two of her previous four starts and with the step up in distance to 1400m was able to control things throughout and once Lokker pushed the go button at the 300m it was all but race over.
