The return to racing at Grafton on 16 August may not have given many people a reason to celebrate but that was not the case if you are a supporter of the John Shelton yard.
Shelton was well represented at the meeting with a team of four starters all of which were well found in the market.
There is no doubt the return of stable star Tara Jasmine was the one to attract most interest when she resumed from a spell in the Class 2 1181m.
Ridden by Ben Looker the mare did a bit of work early to sit second but was never really out of second gear to score a solid win after being shaken up over the final 100m.
Shelton’s next winner came in the Maiden 1006m when the lightly raced Cabsav scored a strong win. Ridden by Luke Rolls Cabsav raced outside the leader mid race before racing to the lead at the 300m and although a little green under pressure found plenty in the run to the finish.
Team Shelton finished off their winning day in the final event of the card when Great Marlow made win number three since joining the stable in mid 2020.
Again piloted by Luke Rolls Great Marlow settled well back in the big field before Rolls starting a long run around the outside from the 700m to be stalking the leaders on the point of the home turn once balanced in the home straight Great Marlow dashed away to score a solid win.
