It is time for the weekly wrap on Grafton racing which has been a bit quiet due of course to the Covid lockdowns.
Last Saturday saw the running of the Coutts Crossing Cup albeit without any crowd which unfortunately is the norm for the moment.
The day started well for Grafton Trainers when the Dwayne Schmidt trained Reachover score a solid victory in the Maiden 1181m.
Ridden by Luke Rolls the colt settled just off the pace stalking the leaders throughout the event before Rolls found clear air below the 300m and Reachover dashed away to quickly put the issue beyond any doubt.
It was a day for Rolls who was also aboard the other Grafton trained winner the Shane Everson prepared Old Timing Man.
Old Timing Man settled well back in the field in the 1106m BM 50 and there was plenty of work for Rolls to do when heads were turned for home and Rolls had almost the entire field in front of him.
But with a cool head Rolls weaved between tiring runners to hit the font in the shadows of the post so quick was his finishing run in the end Old Timing Man scored by threequarters of a length running away.
The wins continue the good form of the Grafton’s leading stables from last season.
