Big Day For The Locals

The good news is we are back racing at Grafton with the first two meetings both seeing top racing produced.
The first meeting was held on Sunday January 24 with Grafton trainers providing three of the seven winners.
The first was Dan Want when stable newcomer Casino Fourteen scored a very impressive win in the Class 4 1200m. Ridden by Anthony Allen Casino Fourteen went straight to the front and dictated terms before kicking on the home turn to then race to the line holding off the late challengers.
It was the second win from three starts for the son of Casino Prince since joining the Want stable a few months back.
Winner number two came from the inform Cathy Chapman yard when Jodi Worley produced a peach of ride on Glycine Max in the BM 58 2200m.
In a race devoid of pace Worley took the early opportunity to push forward and take up a position trailing the leader before letting the others do all the work and take the field up to the leader coming to the turn.
As all the challengers came off the bit on the point of the turn Worley just bided her time before slipping through on the inside to never go around a runner and win running away.
It was simply a case of winning a 2200m race in the first 200m by using your initiative.
The last Grafton prepared winner of the day was prepared by John Shelton when Bugalugs showed an abundance of speed to blow his opposition of the park in the Open 1000m.
Ridden by Luke Rolls it was handlebars down from the outset with Bugalugs swiftly across the face of the field from the outside gate to be in front and in control before the 800m mark.
Then when Rolls pushed the go button at the 300m it was race over as Bugalugs left the opposition standing to race away and win by almost three lengths.
