Whilst Matt McGuren has experienced a solid start for the new season already securing ten winners in the first few weeks, things have been a little more frustrating for his trainer wife Samantha.
Sam knew she has a better than average maiden in the yard when Rocky Rogue won a Grafton trial going half pace and then was second in a Ballina trial chock full of race winners.
But training a solid maiden can be frustrating first to Casino Cup Day for a 1200m maiden when Rocky Rogue led and looked home at 200m was run down late up the tough Casino hill.
A trip to Murwillumbah Cup Meeting for another 1200m maiden saw Rocky Road stalk the leaders before getting to the lead in the shadows of the post to then be run down right on the line in a very close photo.
However those frustrations were quickly forgotten at Coffs Harbour last Monday when Rocky Rogue sat second in a 1200m maiden before dashing right away at the 200m to score a very impressive win.
Yes and for the record you guessed it husband Matt was back on board for the first time since the trials to make it an all family affair.
