John Shelton is having a great start to the new season and that run continued at the Ballina race meeting yesterday.
Marred by rain throughout the day many thought the meeting may not even start and after the first couple of races getting to race four was long odds.
John Shelton was desperate to get to race four because he knew he had the in form Jule’s Spirit ready to go and with two wins from as many runs on heavy ground the deteriorating track conditions were of little concern.
Once the riders returned after the third it was clear race four would get under way and when it did Jule’s Spirit was primed for victory.
Ridden by Luke Rolls Jule’s Spirit was given the run of the race third the fence and did not go around another runner at any stage getting an inside run in the straight to race away and score an impressive victory.
It was the tenth start for Jule’s Spirit since joining the Shelton camp with the gelding being successful on four occasions each time being partnered by Luke Rolls
