The only way to be sure that someone is reading your stories is to make a mistake or leave out a detail and this scribe did just that when reviewing the Grafton meeting last Tuesday worst part is he was chatting with the trainer after the race and spoke about how good it was to break through with a filly that had been a bit of a handful.
It is fair to say that getting Holiday In Dubai to the races has been as far as you can possibly get from a vacation. When due to have her first start last October Holiday In Dubai got a little hot whilst parading and was scratched by the stewards and had a warning placed on her. Since that time her trainer Wayne Lawson has worked overtime keeping her settled at the races and each time she makes a race day appearance there seems to be improvement.
The mare was having her fourth run this preparation and had been hampered by bad alleys and bad luck at each of her three other runs.
On Tuesday she was given a peach of a ride by Matt McGuren third the fence before McGuren got into clear air below the 200m mark to drive the mare to the lead shortly after and then find enough to win in a busy all Grafton finish.
Pic Holiday In Dubai scores an overdue win.
