Shane Everson has been enjoying a great season with the stable churning out plenty of winners.
Christmas was approaching and the family were trying to work out just what Shane would like but how to you buy for the man that has everything. Then the bright idea they decided we know just what he needs another horse.
The problem was tried horses capable of winning a race have been getting harder and harder to find nevertheless the search was on.
So on the final Inglis digital sale for2020 the search and the bidding started in the end the selection was Memphis Squaw a 6yo mare that was a winner of two in Victoria and still racing in good form. If there was any question mark it was her better runs had been on rain affected tracks.
Shane had another issue there were some suitable races coming up but he needed her in NSW and moving horses around Christmas can be a touch problematic.
As they said on the A team ” I love it when a plan comes together” the float from Victoria arrived with a healthy horse and then down came the rain and off to Coffs for a BM58 1012m maybe just a touch short of her best distance but with a heavy track who knows.
Well now we all know because aided by a near perfect ride from Jon Grisedale Memphis Squaw came from midfield the fence to storm down the outside and win with some authority but not before some anxious moments as she got a little lost when going right handed for the first time.
A great result for the camp and a brilliant Christmas present, now Shane is just trying to build up the courage to tell the family they have to pay the training fees as part of the present and keeps the prize money. Now that should be an easy sell.
