With a fantastic Grafton meeting on on Thursday we should review how the Grafton trainers have faired since the return to racing.
At the most recent meeting Grafton trainers had a huge day winning three of the nine events.
Shane Everson was first to the winners circle when Once A Lady led all of the way to win the Maiden 1015m.
Ridden by Jon Grisedale, Once A Lady took advantage of a good gate to take control of the race by the 800m before giving it an easy run to the turn to then kick away on the point of the turn to hold on to win with some authority.
The next Grafton trainer smiling from success was David Campbell when Iobject did a huge job to score in the BM 58 1015m.
Ridden by Matt Bennett Iobject was caught wide with no cover for the majority of the race before being pushed four wide on the point of the corner. Bennett did not panic however and did not push the go button until well into the straight which left Iobject with plenty to call on over the concluding stages.
It was the geldings fourth win from sixteen starts but his first on home soil.
The final Grafton winner for the meeting came courtesy of the arguably the most improved mare in Grafton in Cowgirl Lilly.
Trained by Sam McGuren Cowgirl Lilly took six starts to win her Maiden in a Lismore Sky 2 event. In six subsequent starts that preparation she was not able to be placed at a TAB meeting.
This time back however she has returned in better form winning a Sky 2 BM 50 1600m at Coffs Harbour mid preparation and then scoring a great win in the BM 58 1400m.
Ridden by Braith Nock Cowgirl Lilly came from well back on the home turn to storm down the outside and gain the ascendancy in the shadows of the post.
