Pink Silks Day is the biggest non carnival day at Coffs Harbour and Grafton trainers were well to the fore.
Brendan Mackay was first to the winners circle when DON’T CRY MAMA scored a solid win in the Maiden 1005m ridden by Leah Kilner the gelding settled worse than midfield before Kilner eased into the clear at the 300m.
DON’T CRY MAMA was a little green under pressure but always looked to have the opposition covered once he began his finishing run.
Mackay has not had a lot of race starters of late but DON’T CRY MAMA had put the writing on the wall with a great third at the Gold Coast at his first start in a race. Judging by the quality of the win there will be more wins in store for the gelding.
Winner number two for Grafton was in the very next event with the Ally Ryan prepared NANNY’S PRIMED scoring a well deserved win in the Maiden 1305m.
Given the run of the race by Kasie Stanley NANNY’S PRIMED settled in fourth in a quickly run affair before Stanley eased into the clear at the top of the lane.
NANNY’S PRIMED has a real local flavor as the as mare was bred on the Clarence Valley by her owner Pat Bramich by local stallion Primus.
The final race of the day saw Grafton’s newest trainer Fleur Blanch back in the winners circle with just her ninth career starter.
Coffs Harbour may soon be her favorite track after she won her first career race there just a few weeks earlier.
This time it was DARK EURO in the BM 58 1305m. having his first run from aspell the gelding was ridden by the in form Aaron Bullock.
Given the run of the race in third Bullock then eased into the clear below the 300m and although DARK EURO raced greenly under pressure he held way too many guns for his rivals in the run to the finish
