Reilly’s Angels

The Bowraville Cup meeting is always a fun day at the races with huge crowds usually the order of the day. There is no doubt that the status quo continued last Saturday when a massive crowd packed the picturesque racecourse.
Grafton trainers were well represented but it was Jason Reilly who stole the training honours for the day with a winning double.
The first winner from team Reilly was in the Class 1 2200m when stable newcomer Hotzino scored at just his first run for the stable.
Previously under the care of Kris Lees Hotzino had finished just behind the placegetters at Grafton in early September with Jason Reilly picking the mare up for a song just two days later in an online auction.
Ridden by all conquering Mollie Fitzgerald Hotzino sat second in the run before taking control passing the Papa gumtree and although getting weary approaching the line found enough to hold on and win.
With the second winner for the camp it was a case of catch me if you can tactics employed by claiming apprentice Emily Farr in the BM 50 1370m aboard Icon Of Style.
History will show the opposition were no hope of catching the mare.
In what was a pretty handy training effort Reilly brought Icon Of Style back from the 2200m at its most recent start just three weeks earlier to sprint with gusto over the 1370m trip.
Farr had the mare leading by around six lengths for most of the event with some runners getting within four lengths approaching the turn but once Farr realised the breaks Icon of Style found a huge kick to run away and win by almost seven lengths.
It was big day for Reilly who did not attend the meeting and left it to his trusty all female staff to get the job done.
One comment was it was a bit like Jason’s Angels undoubtedly a reference to the 1970’s TV show Charlie’s Angels were the team of three girls “appeared” to do all the work.
