Racing returned to Grafton on Monday with the locals managing to score a winning double.
John Shelton was first to the winners circle when SPECIAL UNION scored a strong win in the Maiden 1100m.
Ridden by Anthony Allen SPECIAL UNION settled in a close fourth with the run of the race before Allen worked his way into the clear on straightening and then dashed right away to score a very impressive win.
It was only the second start for the gelding and judging by the ease of his victory there will be more wins in store.
Grafton’s second winner for the day came courtesy of the Todd Fletcher prepared MIDWEEK HUSSLER continued his great recent form.
Ridden by Mikayla Weir MIDWEEK HUSSLER was originally in a great position however coming to the turn got shuffled back before Weir was able to move away from the fence and find clear air.
Once in clear running MIDWEEK HUSSLER sprinted right away to win with plenty in reserve.
It was the second win for the gelding from his last four starts and he is clearly now producing the form he promised from early in his career.
The next meeting at Grafton is set down for next Thursday February 6th.
