Lismore Cup day has often proven to be a happy hunting ground for Grafton based trainers over the years and last Thursday was no exception with Andy Parramore bringing home the bacon with Canexcell in the Maiden 1200m.
The win is one that would have brought back plenty of memories for Parramore as Canexcell is a homebred and as a jockey Parramore won three races on his dam Sandy Selection, including his final win as a jockey at Grafton way back in July 2008
Fast forward to Andy’s then new training career and Sandy Selection provided him with both his first runner as a trainer in January 2009 and his first winner in February of the same year.
The nostalgia does not stop there because the win took veteran rider Stephen Traecey to within one win of being being the most successful rider for camp Parramore behind the now retired Matt Paget.
Canexcell is the second of the progeny of Sandy Selection to race for Parramore with the other also a winner in the shape of Farlandy .
There is no doubt that Sandy Selection has provided plenty of good times for her rider come trainer and for her Owner breeder Warren Campbell.
With two more foals on the ground to follow suit there just might be more wins in the offing.
