With Grafton preparing to welcome back patrons again next week it is time to reflect on the last Grafton meeting.
It was premier trainer John Shelton who stole the show with a winning double and he started the day with a well deserved win by the consistent Allusive Eve in the Maiden 1100m.
Ridden by Olivia Pickering who has partnered the mare at every start this preparation Allusive Eve was not best served at barrier rise but was driven through to take up the premier position by the 600m mark.
Once in control Olivia steadied the ship and then kicked on the home turn and Allusive Eve did the rest holding on strongly to win well.
Shelton made it a winning double when arguably the best mare in town Tara Jasmine scored an very impressive victory in the Class 3 1175m.
Ridden by Ben Looker the mare which was having her first run in blinkers was slow to move giving the bulk of the field about three lengths.
Looker however did not panic and tacked on coming to the turn before shifting into clear air below the 300m. At the 200m mark looker pushed the go button and Tara Jasmine raced away to score a very impressive win.
The final Grafton winner for the day saw the inform combination of Dan Want and Jodi Worley combing to win the Maiden 1400m with Full Of Flavour.
Worley went back from a horror gate before getting on her bike form the 500m to make a sweeping run around the field to reach the lead below the 200m and hold on well to win with some authority.
The win made it three wins for Worley from her last ten rides on Want trained runners.
Allusive Eve dashes away.
