Did you ever wonder what winning a Grafton Cup can do to the value of a horse? Well now that question can be answered once and for all.
Purrfect Deal won the $200K Grafton Cup just five weeks ago and today if you wanted to become part of the ownership group 5% of the mare was available for sale.
Before I divulge her current worth I will give you a sales history.
Purrfect Deal was purchased as a weanling in 2017 from her breeders for $30K. She was then purchased the following year by Michael Costa from the Classic Sale for $16K as a yearling.
Then in January of 2021 10% of the mare was purchased for $17K giving her then a value of $170K .
Four starts and three wins later including both the Grafton Cup Prelude and the Listed Maclean Hotel Grafton Cup and Purrfect Deal is now worth a cool $450K after 5% of her sold today for $22.5K
Just goes to show there are still some good stories in this racing game.
