Teamwork

Racing returned to Grafton yesterday with our first meeting for the year.
Normally after a break from Grafton racing it is the locals that dominate the programme but unfortunately that was not the case yesterday with Grafton having to wait to the final event on the programme to record its first winner.
Key Legend trained by Tony Newing came from worse than midfield in the run to get to the lead in the final stride of the BM 58 1200m.
Ridden by Matt McGuren Key Legend came from eighth on the home turn in a very fast run race was worked into clear air by McGuren to storm down the outside to win the event in very tight photo that had a few guessing.
The Newing camp had experienced some success over the Christmas break with the other winners for the stable being Key Legend in a Class 1 1305m at Coffs Harbour just after Christmas and Wild Chap in the Christmas Cup 1410m at Lismore just before that.
To show you cannot keep a good team down every winner trained by Tony Newing this season has been ridden to victory by Matt McGuren
