The Ballina race meeting on the Sunday of long weekend proved to be a bonanza for Grafton trainers with three trainers bringing home winners.
First to celebrate was Fleur Blanch when Dark Euro resumed from a spell in fine style to score an impressive victory in the Open 1300m.
Ridden by Brooke Stower Dark Euro was having his first start since the Grafton July Carnival and had not been produced at the trials.
Stower allowed the gelding to settle worse than midfield but by the time the turn was reached he was stalking the leaders came three deep on the bend and worked to the line strongly to win with some authority.
Next to the winners enclosure was Shane Everson when relative stable newcomer Subrunner got under most punters guard to score a solid win in the BM 58 1590m.
In what was a quickly run race Subrunner was allowed to settle well back in the field by Jon Grisedale before beginning a long and searching run inside the 700m to reach the lead in the shadows of the post and score well.
It was the first win for Subrunner in three starts since joining the Everson yard from Victoria.
Grafton’s final winner for the day was produced by Andy Parramore in the Class1 1250m.
Fu Hao ridden by Jodi Worley like the earlier winners settled well back in the field before Worley threaded her way between runners to find clear air below the to 200m to dash away and score a solid win.
In what was an all Grafton finish with Grafton trained horses filling the first five placings.
Pic Grafton horses everywhere as Fu Hao wins well.
